Something about what was going to happen when he got baptized. Then somebody asked Eric a question, and I forget exactly what it was. We talked about the church, and about what we did as missionaries, and I thought everything was going well for a while. Nobody seemed to be "slow" like Eric was. They were mostly men, but there were one or two women as well. When we got to the apartment where Eric's friends were, they were all pretty normal. The DL had set up an appointment for us to meet with some of Eric's friends, so the two of us greenies (actually we were called 'blues' in our mission, I always hated the term 'greeny') went to go meet Eric and his friends, figuring it would be a good chance to find new investigators. One day we decided to do splits, so I'd go with the really new guy, and the DL and my comp would go out working together.

Eric was on the fast track to baptism, so we were all excited about him. He also seemed like he may have been just a tad simple-minded, but hey, maybe the church could give him some good social interaction in his life. The DL and his comp had been teaching this really nice, quiet guy named Eric, who seemed pretty much golden. My own companion was about to finish his mission just a couple weeks after this happened. I had only been out about 3 months or so, but felt like I was getting by. I lived in a 4-man apartment, along with my DL and his very new comp, who didn't understand much French at all. I wonder if /u/madsenmel remembers hearing this story, as she was in my district at the time.
